Cor_alis _Choralis is a choral piece that employs the human
voice to invite audiences to explore trust in the use of Artificial
Intelligence in medicine. A collaboration between Professor Andy Swift,
Sheffield Medical School, artists Emma O’Connor and Michael Day,
composer Michael Betteridge, and Lucy Bramley, project manager and
director, Cor_alis _Choralis consists of a choral piece
performed by singers from Kantos Chamber Choir, and a panel discussion
which provides audiences the opportunity to learn more about the project
and the themes underpinning the medical and creative work.
Cor_alis _Choralis is constructed from expert
interview transcripts and forms a cultural counterpoint to the program
of pulmonary hypertension research in Sheffield, which uses Artificial
Intelligence (AI) to improve diagnoses made on chest scans.
Cor_alis _Choralis aims to increase understanding of AI in
diagnostic medicine, staging a conversation with the viewer about the
investment of trust in machine-learning.
